Together is an interactive sound sculpture that uses technology to transform human touch into harmony. When participants join hands to bridge two larger-than-life figures, a chorus of voices can be heard. Together is both a celebration and conviction to togetherness. It is the embodiment of hope for the future, provoking thought and conversation around unity, diversity, and what it means to be human together.

Together was created throughout the duration of Emily Sage Avery’s Blumenthal Fellowship in 2025 and was featured at the 2025 Charlotte International Arts Festival.

Nurture Sounds

Nurture Sounds is a multi-lingual, international, continually evolving project that is both an active collection and exploration of the impact of acoustic ecologies in the process of becoming. The first iteration of Nurture Sounds was presented with the Bureau for Listening in Copenhagen, Denmark. This soundscape consists of maternal sounds: recordings of mothers whispering prayers and messages to their children, hushing sounds, deep breathing, and lullabies. Nurture Sounds is an open ended project that is continually being added to by mothers from around the world in their native tongue, all adding to this tapestry of voices that create Nurture Sounds.
